Gateway Adult Behavioral Unit

Inpatient psychiatric care for adults

Gateway at Bullock County Hospital offers inpatient psychiatric care for adults whose acute symptoms require a safe and structured therapeutic environment. The Gateway Psychiatric Program recognizes that adults ages 19-54 may be suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, mood disorders, behavioral problems or have thoughts of harming themselves or others. The 18 bed unit provides acute psychiatric stabilization and treats these conditions. Patients may be admitted by voluntary basis or by court order.

Directed by Saeed Shah, M.D., the multidisciplinary team of the Gateway Program personalizes the treatment plan to meet the specific needs of each individual and to address the severity of their symptoms. The average length of stabilization is 7 days but hospitalization may be longer if necessary.

Services include:

  • Psychiatric & Nursing Assessment

  • Group & Individual Counseling

  • Medication Management

  • Discharge Planning & Assistance with Outpatient Treatment

All admissions require approval of Bullock County Hospital’s Psychiatrist(s) and must meet inpatient criteria.
